Terminal 1 Renovation |
| |
Terminal 1 which accommodates about 6.5 million passengers per annum has since its construction in 1963 been continuously expanded and modernized. The façade of the terminal has been upgraded with metal cladding. After closure of Terminal 2 early 2010, all Non-Star Alliance Carriers are hosted in Terminal 1 now. |
This additional traffic could only be managed by adding some additional capacity within the current footprint of Terminal 1. Therefore CAC installed 17 new Check-In Counters, reactivated 10 already decommissioned counters, provided space for additional 12 Sales offices between halls, 8 Sales offices in Departure Hall 2 and converted 2 floors of the former Airport Hotel into Office Facility (27 units/floor), Of Course all those offices are equipped with facilities like network, internet, telephone connections and air-condition. |
This project was a joint project and success of IT, Commercial, Engineering, Operations and, last but not least, our airlines and ground handling agencies acting as partners.
On the left one can see the new 17 Check-In Counters currently used by Alitalia, Iberia, Korean and Olympic Airways. |
The light and color concept of that area gives our passengers the feeling to move in a brand new terminal.
New Check In counters were added at TB1 Departure Hall 1.
