   Terminal Building 1 (TB1)



Greeters Hall Development:

Earlier:
Greeters did not have a sheltered area while waiting for the arrival of their relatives or friends& had no choice other than to queue in front of the exit gate.

Currently:
Encompassing the Exit aisle of Arrival Hall 1. A new fully equipped hall was constructed to provide greeters with quality service where guests will be allowed to greet their passengers just before the passport control area.

Area: 1550 m2.
Capacity: 500 Greeters.

   Services:
Cafeterias with seating areas.
Large TV airing screens along the arrivals route till they reach the exit gate, displaying entertainment programs to entertain the greeters.
 
Advanced communication equipment located at various locations in the hall.
The hall is centrally air-conditioned and has 4 exits leading to the newly renovated parking areas.

 
   Transit Area



Earlier:

The Terrace was a closed unused area.
The transit area was one level with an overall area of 4100 m2, including one cafeteria, one information desk and nine departure gates that were furnished with plastic chairs.
The decorations and bathrooms were in a state that needed renovations to keep up with International standards.
The First Class lounges were small in terms of size & capacity.


Currently:


The transit area and terrace were combined together to increase the area to 6900 m2 and redesigned to keep up with new international standards, through offering new services.
    Ground Floor 4100 m2.
    Mezzanine Floor: 1950 m2.
    First floor: 850 m2.
 
 
12 Departure Gates including 2 double level gates to serve large aircrafts.
 
The ground floor hall is furnished with 4500 new comfortable seats instead of 1622 plastic seats previously.
Large TV screens displaying entertainment programs, news and flight schedules.
 
The Mezzanine level includes 2 cafeterias, duty free shops and comfortable seats for transit passengers.
 
The first floor is designed to accommodate 5 different First Class lounges; American, English, French and Italian, to be operated by one of the best Five Star Hotel Management Companies.
 
 
   Business Center



A Business center, offering various business services ranging from an internet café to all communication means has been operated.


 
 
 
 
   Transfer Area:



The transfer passengers system has been adjusted to provide complete freedom of movement & shopping to the passengers, replacing the old system where they were not allowed to enter these areas.

The entire transit area is equipped with the latest International standards in terms of fire alarm systems, electronic fire extinguishing systems, audiovisual aids, directional signs, lighting systems& central air conditioning.


Implementing the non-smoking law and providing halls with smoking rooms.

   

 

 


With Wireless Technology and advanced applications such as IP Telephony running over a high-availability converged Network, Cairo International Airport is planning to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, improve on-site security, and can moreover offer innovative and valuable services.
